Pacific Rod and Street booth in paradise

Pacific Rod and Street participated in the 1st Annual Ron’s Performance Center Hot Rod Picnic and Parades at the Aloha Stadium, Honolulu, Hawaii, this past 4th of July.

Aloha Stadium July 4th 2008

Hundreds of cars, trucks and bikes were showcased at the event as over 5,000 people passed through the gates. The event featured People’s Choice Awards in various classes as voting by the crowd was processed via computer ballots. A group of vehicles paraded around the stadium every hour, giving this car show much more than other shows as the rumble echoed through the stadium walls. There definitely was a lot of lopey rumble!

1971 Duster MoparDuster and Monster Girl

The Pacific Rod and Street booth featured Mike Merrell’s ‘71 Duster and Morgan Pattison’s ‘63 Impala. The Duster’s engine compartment houses a 340 ci block bolted to a 727 trans with 3.91 gears at the rear. A dual snorkel hood tops the clean, factory-themed engine bay with 340 callout stripes siding the Duster.

Grounded Chevy Impala

The other end of the booth featured Morgan Pattison’s ‘63 Impala storing a .30 over Chevy 350. The “Grounded” name is fitting for this car as the 20s spinning at the front and rear are hooked to air bags with 2” drop spindles at the front. The car has gone through a frameoff restoration with all nuts and bolts replaced with stainless fasteners.

The Impala was awarded the People’s Choice Award for it’s class...well-deserved!
